Hawks:  Congratulation for all those on our 2010 squads. The Lord willing, we are on our way to another exciting season of enjoying America's Great Pastime.  A registration form due Jan 31 requiring the $20 liability fee, uniform fee (if necessary), and $50 World Series tournament deposit (if necessary), will be coming mid January.  Below is a better explanation of costs, time and commitment needed to particpate.

1.  Please read the  information regarding the coaching policy on substitutions. 

2. Cost:  $85 per month per player (3 payments--March, April, & May), $50 for additional children. Cost includes all practices and regular season games.  Cost does NOT include tournament fees, special clinic fees, liability fees, and uniforms.

3.  Orlando tournament: The Homeschool Varsity Squad has the opportunity to play 5 games in the last week of April at the Homeschool World Series in Auburndale, Fla.  It is about a 10-hour drive from Raleigh  Besides the entry fee (about $100 per payer), there would be transportation, meals and lodging costs.  A deposit of $50 per player for the tournament fee is due by JAN 31.  Please let me know if you want to attend.  We are looking into team fund raisers to cover entry fees and hotel.  If you can go, this is one of the most memorable experiences of the school year.

4.  Uniforms:  All new players need to buy uniforms. The cost for jersey and cap is about $95. This does not include plants, belt or socks  These are high quality jerseys that can last for several years if you take care of it.  I must have your uniform size and payment by Feb. 1 (see registration form).  Please wait until I have the final costs before sending payment.

5. We will begin with a few practices in February when the weather is reasonable and it does not conflict with basketball (several players on the team are on our middleschool and varsity basketball teams).  I'll have a better idea of that schedule by the third week in January.

We have the following practice times available.  When the season begins (March 1), the number of practices per week will be determined by games on the schedule for that week. For most of the season we try to limit the total number of games and practices per week to 4.

Mondays: 12:00 to 2:00 Wilder’s Grove
Tuesday: 3:30 - 5:45 Wilder’s Grove
Fridays: 3:00 - 5:45 Wilder’s Grove
Saturdays: 10:00 to 12:30 Wilder’s Grove

Wilder’s Grove is located at 4204 Willow Oak Rd., in Raleigh.  Take HWY 64/264 east to New Hope Rd.  Go north on New Hope and proceed across Business 64/New Bern. Go to the next light (Willow Oak) and turn left.  The entrance to Wilder’s Grove is on the left.

6.  Schedule:
Middleschool Games:  We have been invited to play again in the public middleschool league (14-16 games), plus a few out of league games. Most games are played on Mondays and Thursdays.  The first game is Monday, March 1.

Varsity Games:  The Raleigh Hawks Varsity has about 15 regular season games on their schedule, not including the World Series (April 26 to May 1) and State Championships (May 13-15), beginning with Durham Academy on Thursday, March 4.
