Hawks: Team rosters are indicated below: Everyone who tried out was selected to a team.  Some players have been selected for both JV and Varsity. Additional players from varsity may also be used to round out the JV team for a particular game. In turn, JV players, when needed, may be asked to fill in vacant spots for a varsity game. It is also possible, anytime during the season, for a JV player to earn a spot on the varsity squad.

We have a tentative January and February winter practice schedule listed in the e-mail. We need your commitment to the program by Jan. 5, 2011. Winter practice registration requires $60 in practice fees per family plus liability costs ($11 for middleschoolers and $16 for varsity). Players involved with the NCHE or Hawks BASKETBball season pay only $30 WINTER practice fees.

Players listed on both JV & VAR will practice with the varsity team, unless otherwised requested. Practices may be adjusted to accommodate coaches' schedules and Hawks BASKETball conflicts.  Severe, cold weather may require practices to be canceled. If we decide to move practices indoors it may require an additional fee per player to cover additional rental costs.  That money will be collected at the actual practice.

Regular Season Costs 
MARCH - MAY
Costs:  $85 per month (three payments: March, April, & May), $50 for additional children. Cost includes all practices and regular season games.  Cost does NOT include tournament fees, special clinic fees, practice jerseys or uniforms.

Additional Costs 
Uniforms:  Will be ordered the last week of January.  Costs last year were $95 for jersey and cap (pants, belt, socks not included). Practice jerseys (with numbers) for all players will be ordered the middle to end of February--that price is not yet determined.

Varsity Tournaments:  The varsity has three tournaments.  Preseason tournament in Burlington, $25 per player. North Carolina State Homeschool tournament, May 12-14. $40 per player.  And the Homeschool World Series, May 2-7, $100 per player ($75 second family member) plus traveling, hotel and meals. We will need a $50 deposit for the World Series by Feb. 2. 

Middleschool Tournaments: Right now the middleschool has one tournament -- the NC State Homeschool Tournament, May, 12-14.  The cost will be $40 per player. All homeschool players 13 & under on Sept. 1, 2010, will be eligible for this tournament, regardless of residence.

Regular Season Practices (Mar - May)
Tuesday:  Middleschool 1:30 to 3:30.  Varsity, 3:30 - 5:45 
Wednesday:  3:30 to 5:00 @ Wilder's Grove (sometimes reserved for clinics and selected players, teams)
Fridays: Middleschool 1:30 to 3:30.  Varsity,3:30 - 5:30
Saturdays: 10:00 to 12:30 All TEAMS (unless otherwise specified)

Practice Location
Wilder's Grove
Wilder’s Grove is located at 4204 Willow Oak Rd., in Raleigh.  Take HWY 64/264 East to New Hope Rd.  Go north on New Hope and proceed across Business 64/New Bern. Go to the next light (Willow Oak) and turn left.  The entrance to Wilder’s Grove is on the left.

Equipment
All players should provide their own helmet, bat and glove. Protective cups are mandatory. We are asking all players to purchase an additional wooden bat for practices.  Also uniform fees DO NOT include pants, belt or socks.
Schedules
Middleschool Games:  We have been invited to play again in the Wake County Club Baseball middleschool league (16 games) and have at least two out of league games. Most games are played on Mondays and Thursdays.  The first game is Saturday,  March 12.

Varsity Games:  The Raleigh Hawks Varsity have about 17 regular season games, at this point, on their schedule and begin with Durham Academy on Thursday, March 3.  

Junior Varsity Games:  Because we decided to put together a JV team just this month, we are presently building a JV schedule (at print time we have 3 scheduled and 2 pending) and we hope to get a 14 game schedule by the end of January.  If you know a private high school who might be interested, please let us know.
Fundraising:
Should costs exceed our budget,  a team fund-raiser may be required to help cover expenses. We can also offer fund raising opportunities for those families who would like to raise money toward their game fee costs.
