Seahawks:  The swim lessons and White team are off next week, April 27 & 29, because of our annual trek to the Homeschool World Series.  This year the tournament is in Orlando.  Lessons and white team will pick up again on May 4th and 6th.

Also, summer swim team information will be out by Monday, May 2.  We will be at the Triangle Aquatic Center again this summer with practices on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, beginning Monday, June 7.  It also looks like water polo will be again on Thursdays.  I need to get times approved by TAC before I send the information out.  We will have a White Team and those swimmers will be allowed to swim in the meets.  Here is our meet schedule:

TUE-06-15     TCC at Manchester
TUE-06-22     TCC at Southall
TUE-06-29     TCC at Oak Park
TUE-07-06     TCC at Banbury Woods
TUE-07-13     TCC at Hedingham
TUE-07-20     TCC at Brier Creek

TUE-07-27     TCC FAMILY MEET AT TAC

Lap-a-thon, May 18, 19, 20th

It’s time again for our annual lap-a-thon fund-raiser: May 18, 19, & 20  This is an endurance challenge to each swimmer to see how many laps he or she can swim in 60 minutes (the team record is 174).  White team swim members are welcome to participate in this event!

I love this event because it builds great confidence in swimmers who have an apprehension toward swimming long distances. I have seen swimmers who thought 8 to 12 lengths were too difficult become regular 32 and 40 lap swimmers because they pushed their limit by giving their all for this event.  Last year nearly all the participants swam at least 1 mile (72 lengths).

Raising funds for the Lap-a-thon is not mandatory this year. But whatever you raise goes a long way to help keep the team fees down.  Ten percent of the proceeds will go to the Grace Orphanage in southwest India.

However, whether you raise funds or not, for the endurance experience, all swimmers will still participate in the hour nonstop swim event  And for those who do raise money, we have some awards for individuals exceeding $100 or more.
To record sponsorship, use the attached sign-up sheet and bring it to your swim practice the week of  May 18, 19  & 20. You will do your hour swim during your practice time.  If you have more than one swim practice per week you may choose the day you swim the lap-a-thon or you may swim it more than one day that week.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all our iniquities; Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit; Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle. -Psalm 103:1-5
